| im sleeping, dreaming of a clock ticking. i wake up to the sound
of my blinds rustling with the wind. i look at my alarm clock
across the room, straining my eyes. 10:28am. i look again knowing i
must wake in 30 minutes. it's 8:28am. i go back to slumber.
woken again by the sound of a clock ticking. it's the blinds
again. i hurt my eyes once more to look at the time, i should
place my clock closer to me next time for sleep. 11:01am.
Time to wake up. I stay in bed.

| Today had a child at work who was a very high functioning
autistic. The drill for today was to do a comic strip for an
incident today because the kid could not explain why he couldnt
understand the DO NOT ENTER sign on the freeway. In order to do
the drill rite, the child had to explain to the therapist why the mom
could not understand his question by seeing the mom's perspective and
how he asked it at the time. The child did very well in the whole
drill. Very interesting stuff in the clinical field. Taking
perspectives is a hard thing for an autistic child, especially for this
particular one, so many times when we show an emotion to him, the
therapist must point out why they had shown the emotion and shape an
appropriate response. Its funny how some of these kids will
generalize a response for being angry or crying, always with a "Are you
surprised?" This job is great.
